The wines from the Höhenflug line produced by the Hensel estate wonderfully reflect the great diversity and the dedicated commitment of Thomas Hensel to coaxing the best out of his grapes. Due to the controlled ageing in wooden casks, the wines have a special elegance and complexity.The classic Höhenflug Grauburgunder (Pinot Gris) is the best evidence of this. On the nose, it offers fine barrique aromas such as notes of vanilla, hazelnuts and toast, complemented by spicy nuances of overripe pears, honeydew melon and hints of pepper. It is incredibly complex and powerful but supple on the palate. Despite its heft, the Höhenflug Grauburgunder (Pinot Gris) from the Palatinate never loses its freshness and balance. Friendships such as the one between wine-makers Thomas Hensel and Markus Schneider count for a lot. Both come from the Palatinate and both of them create their own outstanding wines, so it was only logical that Hensel and Schneider decided to collaborate on a joint project.They created the Hensel and Gretel Weißwein (white wine), amongst others. This cuvée consists of Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris. It is a fine, shimmering gold in the glass. On the nose, the wine surprises connoisseurs with an abundance of fruit aromas such as notes of apples, pears and tropical fruit like melon, peaches and passion fruit.On the palate, the Hensel and Gretel Weisswein is marvellously powerful and expressive. It is a multi-faceted, complex wine that is a genuine delight right from the first sip. The wine was aged in second-fill wooden casks, leading to light notes of smoke and oak. The finish is slightly sweet.The Hensel and Gretel Weißwein is not only a lovely terrace wine but is also a wonderful accompaniment to light dishes.

The ageing in French oak barrels ensures a full body and warm wood aromas and allows this white wine to be stored for two years.The Pinot Gris has a sunny, golden yellow color. The nose is equally flattered by yellow fruit, spices such as vanilla and fine floral tones. On the palate, there are also notes of almonds and nuts. The wine is skillfully balanced and round, with a well-integrated acidity.Enjoy this vegan Pinot Gris at a drinking temperature of 8 to 10 °C. Dieser Grauburgunder wurde zu 100 Prozent aus Burgunder-Trauben vom Silberberg in einer der besten deutschen Weinlagen gekeltert. It has a moderate acidity, yet is lean and lively. Furthermore, the Studier Grauburgunder has a mineral note and is earthy and expressive without being powerful. This wine is an excellent fresh Grauburgunder with clear fruit flavours and a lovely accompaniment to roasted and grilled meat, spicy vegetable dishes and strong cheeses such as Emmentaler, Appenzeller and Comté. It is a beautiful representative of the Palatinate viticulture as produced by the Studier estate.
