Lanzerac Chardonnay

The grapes for the Lanzerac Chardonnay come from the estate’s various vineyards, of which the oldest are more than 20 years old. The blending of the grapes from the different vineyards has a positive impact on the wines’ complexity. The yield is less than 5 tons per hectare (1 hectare = approx. 2.47 acres). In order to only pick healthy and fully ripe grapes, the harvest was carried out by hand. Subsequently, the grapes were again selected by hand in the cellar. After cutting, the grapes were cooled down to 59 °F and pressed.The wine was fermented in barrels, of which 70% were 300-litre oak casks and 30% were stainless steel tanks. After 9 months, the two batches were blended. The Lanzerac Chardonnay is full-bodied and distinctive, offering aromas of citrus, ginger, vanilla and clover on the nose. On the palate, it shows a noticeable balance between fruit, acidity and softness. The finish is creamy and long-lasting. Thanks to its wonderful complexity, the Lanzerac Chardonnay goes beautifully with smoked salmon, sea bass or paella with seafood.

Der Lanzerac Commemorative Pinotage 2019 ist eine Hommage an die lange Tradition und das Erbe der südafrikanischen Weinbaukunst. Lanzerac, eines der ältesten Weingüter des Landes, feiert mit diesem besonderen Jahrgang die Einführung des weltweit ersten kommerziellen Pinotage-Weins, der 1959 von genau diesem Weingut auf den Markt gebracht wurde. Der Lanzerac Commemorative Pinotage ist ein wahrer Ausdruck der Einzigartigkeit dieser autochthonen südafrikanischen Rebsorte.Im Glas präsentiert sich der Wein in einem tiefen Rubinrot mit violetten Reflexen. In der Nase entfaltet er ein reiches Aromenspektrum, das von reifen roten Früchten wie Kirschen und Himbeeren dominiert wird, begleitet von einer feinen Würze, Noten von dunkler Schokolade, Tabak und einem Hauch von Eichenholz. Der Lanzerac Jonkershoek Reserve ist eine Mischung aus Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz und Petit Verdot. Die Trauben für jede in dieser Mischung verwendete Sorte stammen aus ausgewählten Weinbergen im Jonkershoek Valley in Südafrika. Die Trauben wurden von Hand gelesen und mit äußerster Sorgfalt selektiert. Nur die besten Trauben schafften es in diesen außergewöhnlichen Rotwein. Die Gärung und Reifung fand in französischer Eiche statt. Diese ausdrucksstarke Mischung auf Cabernet-Basis ist voller Aromen von Schwarzkirsche, Schokolade, Gewürzen und einem Hauch von Cassis. Am Gaumen zeigt sich der Lanzerac Jonkershoek Reserve saftig, geschmeidig und mit seidig eingebundenen Tanninen. Lanzerac Le General 2019

The Lanzerac Le Général is a so-called Bordeaux blend, which could be assigned to the left bank in Bordeaux, i.e. the Médoc region. This style is based on the classic blending of the Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Petit Verdot and Merlot varieties. The grapes for this wine come from the estate’s best vineyards located in the Jonkershoek valley in Stellenbosch. The wine matured for 20 months in first- and second-fill French oak casks. Initially, this full-bodied blend offers aromas of vanilla and nutmeg. Subsequently, it pampers the palate with a flood of notes of dark berries, cooked plums and black currants. The palate is complemented by nuances of dark chocolate and hints of smoke, underpinned by powerful, soft tannins and a never-ending finish. The vintage can already be enjoyed now. We recommend decanting the wine before drinking it. Ennjoy the Lanzerac Le General with braised saddle of lamb with fennel and orange or with white chocolate mousse with cherries.

Lanzerac Merlot

The grapes for Lanzerac Merlot come from vineyards located in the Jonkershoek Valley near Stellenbosch. These vineyards are divided into four different parcels of land with vines that are between 9 and 17 years old, covering an area of 20.31 acres. This terroir consists of deep red, decomposed granite soils and is located between 125 and 400 metres above sea level. After arrival in the cellar, the grapes were selected by hand and destemmed. Before they were gently pressed, the loose grapes underwent a second selection by hand. Subsequently, the grapes were fermented in stainless steel tanks with pumping over twice a day, allowing an optimal extraction of colour and aromas. The Merlot matured for 12 months in second- and third-fill French oak casks. The optimal point of the ripening process was reached by regular racking. This appetizing Lanzerac Merlot has a lot to offer and leaves nothing to be desired. On the nose, it offers concentrated aromas of black fruit, along with sweet notes of vanilla and spicy aromas. The tannins give the wine more complexity, gently underpinning aromas of plums, black cherries, cooked strawberry purée and dark chocolate, finely rounded off by a long, integrated finish. The Lanzerac Merlot goes beautifully with veal chops and portabello mushrooms, gnocchi in a red pepper sauce with crispy pancetta or with a creamy gruyere and parmesan cheese risotto.

The Lanzerac Méthode Cap Classique (MCC) Blanc de Blancs Brut from the Jonkershoek valley near Stellenbosch is a sparkling wine made from 100% Chardonnay grapes. The vines grow in vineyards with deep, sandy soils, situated between approximately 200 and 400 metres above sea level. Harvesting is done by hand in order to ensure that only fully ripe and healthy grapes are selected.The fine sparkling Lanzerac is a good accompaniment to any occasion. It offers creamy notes of sponge cake, complemented by lively aromas of apples and citrus fruit. The tiny bubbles virtually tingle on the tongue. This sophisticated vividness reveals the wine’s elegance and subtlety. The palate is characterised by a fine note of yeast, precisely sustaining the long-lasting finish. Lanzerac Mrs. English Chardonnay

In 1914, Elizabeth Katherina English bought the Schoongezicht farm and renamed it Lanzerac. In the following years, one of the most modern wineries at that time was created at the Cape. In order to pay tribute to this impressive woman, this wonderful Chardonnay was produced.The grapes for the Lanzerac Mrs. English Chardonnay come from a single vineyard located in the Jonkershoek valley. The vines are more than 20 years old and are situated 375 metres above sea level. The wine gleams flaxen in the glass and offers citrus aromas on the nose. On the palate, this marvellously complex wine is full-bodied and long-lasting. It was aged in new and used barrels, giving the wine a beautifully clear balance and lots of character. The Mrs. English Chardonnay is wonderfully rounded off by a pre-eminent fruitiness. Lanzerac Pinotage

The grapes for the Lanzerac Pinotage come from vineyards that are located between 400 and 420 metres above sea level. The prevailing wind cools the grapes in hot summers. The soils consist mainly of decomposed granite, enhancing the vines’ deep growth and improving water retention in the soil. After fermentation in stainless steel tanks with regular pumping over, the Lanzerac Pinotage matured for 15 months in first-, second- and third-fill oak casks.At this point, the optimal integration between fruit and wood was completed, resulting in a wine of excellent colour with fragrances of ripe berries and plums. On the palate, the Lanzerac Pinotage is velvety, dense, full-bodied and complex, showing a lovely balance. Lanzerac Pinotage 1,5 Liter Magnum

Die Trauben für den Lanzerac Pinotage Magnum stammen aus Weinbergen, die auf einer Höhe zwischen 400 und 420 Metern über dem Meeresspiegel liegen. Der hier vorherrschende Wind unterstützt die Kühlung der Trauben in heißen Sommern. Die Böden bestehen hauptsächlich aus zersetztem Granit, das begünstigt den Tiefenwuchs der Rebe und der Boden speichert das Wasser besser.Die Fermentation fand in Edelstahltanks bei regelmäßigem Umpumpen statt. Für die Reifung des Lanzerac Pinotage Magnum kamen Eichenfässer erster, zweiter und dritter Füllung zum Einsatz. Die Reifung zog sich über einen Zeitraum von 15 Monaten hin. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt war die optimale Integration zwischen Holz und Frucht vollzogen. Das Ergebnis ist eine exzellente Farbe und ein Duft reifer Beeren und Pflaumen. Am Gaumen ist der Wein samtig dicht, vollmundig komplex und mit einer schönen Balance ausgezeichnet. Aromen hochwertiger Schokolade und Noten von Karamell begeistern das Geschmackserlebnis mit wunderbar integrierten Tanninen.

Lanzerac Pinotage Rose

Der Lanzerac Pinotage Rose stammt aus dem Jonkershoek-Tal in Stellenbosch. Stellenbosch ist wohl die bekannteste Weinregion in Südafrika. Nachdem die Trauben gepresst waren, wurden die Schalen für ca. 3 Stunden mit der Flüssigkeit in Kontakt gelassen. Das verleiht dem Wein eine wunderschöne, zarte Farbe. Der Lanzerac Pinotage Rose besticht durch sanfte aromatische Noten von Parfüm und Rosenblütenblättern. Am Gaumen zeigt sich viel Frucht von roter Johannisbeere und Erdbeere. Es handelt sich um einen weichen, trocknen, leicht parfümierten und fruchtigen Rose, der sich perfekt als Terrassenwein in warmen Sommermonaten eignet.Genießen Sie diesen Rose auch zu frischen Fruchtspeisen aller Art oder einem Garnelen-, Mango- und Avocadosalat oder mit erfrischenden Wassermelonen-, Fetasalat.

Lanzerac Sauvignon Blanc

The Lanzerac Sauvignon Blanc consists of grapes that come from two different vineyards. One of the vineyards is already 19 years old and located 450 metres above sea level. The grapes from these vines give the wine its complexity. The vines that grow in the second vineyard are only 4 years old, giving the wine its freshness. In order to protect the grapes from heat stress, the harvest was carried out early in the morning. After repeated selection in the cellar, the grapes were pressed at a temperature of approximately 57.2 °F. The must remained in contact with the skin for about 6 hours. Subsequently, the wine was fermented at a temperature of 53.6 to 57.2 °F for a period of 10 days. On the nose, the Lanzerac Sauvignon Blanc offers various aromas such as notes of green apple, Asian fruit, pears, white peach and lemon grass. It is soft and creamy on the palate, showing an intense minerality and a surprisingly long finish.Thanks to its vivid acidity, the Lanzerac Sauvignon Blanc goes beautifully with goat’s cheese and seafood salads.
