Saint Clair Origin Chardonnay

Saint Clair Family Estate was founded by Neal and Judy Ibbotson, viticulture pioneers in Marlborough since 1978.

This Chardonnay was harvested at optimum ripeness from vineyards across the Marlborough region. A delicious, fruit-driven wine, it has ripe peach and grapefruit flavours complemented by haselnuts and spice with a lingering finish on the palate.

A perfect match with seafood with cream-based sauces or mild Thai coconut curries. Best enjoyed now of within two years of vintage date.

Suitable for vegans.

Saint Clair Family Estate

Saint Clair Omaka Reserve Chardonnay
Colour:Pale gold. Aroma:An intense and complex nose with aromas of white peach, honeysuckle and subtle savoury and bacon oak notes. Palate:A deliciously full-bodied and rich wine with complex stone fruit flavours and a touch of spice supported by underlying savoury oak notes and subtle yeast autolysis characters. The palate is elegant and full with firm acidity and a lingering finish. Ageing potential:Perfect for drinking immediately this Chardonnay will age well in the bottle with careful cellaring up for to four years from vintage date.Winemaking:The fruit was carefully hand-picked and whole bunch pressed to ensure the vineyard characteristics and fruit flavours were preserved. Wine was barrel fermented in 100 per cent American oak (50 per cent new oak barrels, 25 per cent second fill, 25 per cent third fill). Selected yeast strains were used for fermentation. The wine then went through malolactic fermentation followed by 10 months ageing on yeast lees, with regular stirring. Only the best barrels from each batch were selected to use in the final blend. The wine was then blended and carefully prepared for bottling.Food match:Perfect with salmon, rich cream-based sauces or roast chicken.AwardsPure Silver, Air New Zealand Wine Awards 2011 Gold, Bragato Wine Awards 2011 Blue Gold, Sydney International Wine Competition 2012 Silver, The New Zealand International Wine Show 2011
