Penfolds Father Grand Tawny 10 Years
With regard to the production process and the type of wine, the Penfolds Father Grand Tawny is similar to a port wine, though it is not allowed to bear the protected term ‘port’. The different base wines are at least 10 years old. Wines of an average of 15 different vintages unite to create the Penfolds Father Grand Tawny, thus ensuring that the nuances of each vintage produce a concentrated Tawny. The base wine is traditionally enriched with specially distilled alcohol containing between 78 and 85 of alcohol by volume, simultaneously increasing both the Tawny’s alcohol content and its complexity. In the glass, the Father Grand Tawny is a light brown of medium intensity with hints of yellow and green at the rim. On the nose, it offers wonderful notes of oak, chocolate, plums and roasted nuts, complemented by nuances of cloves and anise. On the palate, the Tawny shows its full power and elegance, offering sweet notes of fruitcake and concentrated wood aromas.
