The Beyerskloof Traildust is a blend consisting of the Pinotage, Cinsault and Pinot Noir grape varieties. Everyone who knows that the Pinotage grape variety is a cross between Cinsault, also known as Heritage, and Pinot Noir immediately recognises the special quality of this wine.

Winemaker Anri Truter, the owner of the Beyerskloof estate, thus united the ancient grape varieties with the new Pinotage cross. One might suppose that this was a bold experiment. However, after several years of trying the estate produced a wonderful wine. The Beyerskloof Traildust is, so to speak, a tribute to the legacy of the Pinotage.

The wine has a wonderful bouquet offering aromas of black cherries, plums and flowers, accompanied by subtle hints of spice. It is a brilliant ruby-red in the glass. On the palate, the wine is juicy and fresh, with soft and balanced tannins. This is an elegant blend that is a rare find indeed.

The Beyerskloof Traildust matured for 12 months in French oak casks, giving the wine its balance and power to accompany duck or game carpaccio, for example.

Im Jahre 1988 gründete Beyers Truter, einer der bedeutendsten Winzer am Kap und damals Winemaker bei Kanonkop Estate das Weingut Beyerskloof. Auf der Suche nach einer geeigneten Farm fand er in der Region Koelenhof nahe Stellenbosch das alte Gut mit Namen Nooitgedacht. Diese Farm war bis 1895 in Besitz der Familie Beyers, welche direkte Vorfahren von Beyers Truter waren. So konnte das erworbene Grundstück folgerichtig nur einen Namen tragen: Beyerskloof

Die Philosophie von Beyerskloof besteht in dem Bestreben mit den natürlichen Ressourcen ein unvergessliches, erstklassiges Weinerlebnis zu schaffen.

Eine Verpflichtung die Beyerskloof international bekannt gemacht hat und zum Beispiel durch den Gewinn der Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande Trophy für die beste Rotweincuvee der Welt beim INTERNATIONAL WINE & SPIRIT COMPETITION in London Ausdruck fand.

Beyers und sein Team von Beyerskloof treibt der ständige Wunsch, innovativ zu sein, vorausschauend zu denken und letztendlich die Nase vorn zu haben. Beyerskloof hat das Bestreben den alltäglichen Konsumenten zufrieden zu stellen.

Eine weitere Besonderheit ist die Hingabe an der Verbesserung der Pinotage Rebe zu arbeiten, so wundert es nicht, dass Beyers Truter Gründungsmitglied der Pinotage Association ist.

Simonsig Redhill Pinotage

The Redhill Pinotage from the Simonsig winery is redolent of plums, mulberries and cherries, complemented by fine, subtle nuances of vanilla. The grapes come from old, low-yield bush vines that are cultivated without wire trellis training systems. However, the vines produce grapes that are more concentrated. On the palate, the Simonsig Redhill Pinotage offers fine tannins, an elegant length and a good structure. Its finish is characterised by spicy nuances of cedar. The pure varietal Pinotage matured for 15 months in predominantly French oak casks. A small percentage of this wine was aged in American oak. This Pinotage from the Coastal region in South Africa is a fine taste experience. It has a multi-faceted bouquet hinting of plums, berries and bananas, complemented by aromas of coffee and chocolate. On the palate, the wine is well-balanced, medium-bodied, velvety and fruity. This pure varietal Pinotage comes from vines between 14 and 18 years old. Beyerskloof Synergy Cape Blend

The Beyerskloof Synergy is the epitome of Cape wines. As one of the first of this type in South Africa, it unites the structure of Cabernet Sauvignon, the fruitiness of Pinotage and the softness of Merlot. A small percentage of Shiraz, Cinsault and Pinot Noir gives the Beyerskloof Synergy its spice and minerality. It matured for 14 months in first- (10%), second- and third-fill French oak casks.The Beyerskloof Synergy Cape Blend is a deep red in the glass, with a slightly shimmering ruby-red rim. Beyerskloof and Pinotage are the perfect combination in South Africa. Anri Truter, owner and winemaker at Beyerskloof, has long been known as South Africa's Mister Pinotage. Few devote themselves to this grape variety with such dedication.The Beyerskloof Pinotage Reserve was aged for 14 months in French oak. 10% of the wine was matured in new barrels and the rest in second and third-fill barrels. This gives the red wine a fine cedar wood aroma. The color of the Beyerkloof Pinotage Reserve is deep red and the nose reveals complex aromas of blackberries and plums. The palate is wonderfully balanced and juicy with a fleshy note. Opulent and with a fine texture, this Pinotage shows the full range of the grape variety.
