Simonsig Estate liegt in der weltberühmten Weinregion Stellenbosch, 45 Kilometer östlich von Kapstadt, und bietet einen majestätischen Blick auf den Simonsberg.

Frans Malan, ein Pionier der südafrikanischen Weinindustrie, füllte 1968 die ersten Flaschen der Simonsig-Weine ab. Simonsig Chenin Blanc war der erste Simonsig-Wein, den Malan in dem Jahr präsentierte. Der Beginn einer Erfolgsgeschichte.

Heute führen seine Söhne Pieter, Francois und Johan sowie sein Enkel Francois-Jacques in der 3. und 4. Generation die Weinproduktion bei Simonsig Estate fort. Das Weingut umfasst insgesamt 302 Hektar, von denen 210 bestockt sind. Sandstein, Granitboden und Schiefer bilden die Grundlage für die Simonsig-Weine. Das Weingut gehört zu den wenigen, die ihre Kreationen selbst in Flaschen abfüllen und zudem mit unverwechselbaren Etiketten versehen. Bei den Rebsorten setzt Simonsig im Wesentlichen auf Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinotage, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz und Pinot Noir.

An all round crowd pleaser and extremely versatile bubbly crafted from a selection of the classic MCC varieties, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Both varietals were hand-picked: Chardonnay at 18-19.5°B for fruit and elegance and Pinot Noir at 18.5-20°B for complexity and length of flavour. In the cellar whole bunch pressing ensures fractional recovery. After settling of the juice the two varieties are fermented separately. They are then cross-blended along with reserve wine if necessary, bottled and left for 15 to 18 months yeast contact time before disgorgement. Light yeasty aromas and secondary tones of limey fresh fruit on the nose with rich creamy complexity on the palate. The exceptionally fine mousse contributes freshness and finesse.

Pongracz Méthode Cap Classique (MCC) Brut
The Pongracz Méthode Cap Classique Brut is made from the traditional Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grape varieties. After the first fermentation and the subsequent malolactic fermentation, the wine remains in contact with the yeast for another two years in order to carry out the secondary fermentation in the bottle. After the sediment is removed, the bottles are corked up and kept in a cool place for 2 to 4 months before the sparkling wine is launched on the market. The Pongracz Pongracz Méthode Cap Classique Brut is impressive in its enormous complexity and wonderful elegance. The bouquet offers intense fragrances of green apples and fresh bread. On the palate, it offers fine notes of yeast that are softly overlaid with roast aromas and nuances of red fruit. The persistent perlage gives the sparkling wine its stimulating freshness. Das in der Kap Region in Südafrika beheimatete Projekt dreier Freunde symbolisiert den Kampf, die Leidenschaft und das Engagement, die erforderlich sind, um jeden neuen Jahrgang handgefertigter Weine zu produzieren. Die Nase zeigt ein schönes, subtiles, biscuitartiges Bouquet, während am Gaumen eine feine Mousse mit zarten, anhaltenden Blasen von großer Finesse und subtilen Aromen allgewärtig ist.
