Es handelt sich um einen Blend besteht aus einer Mischung von Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, Syrah und Petite Sirah aus klimatisch unterschiedlichen Anbaugebieten in ganz Kalifornien. Dadurch erreicht der Wein mehr Komplexität und faszinierende Nuancen. Im Glas zeigt sich ein leuchtendes Rot. Die Nase verführt mit Noten von Schwarzkirsche, Pflaume und verschiedenen Gewürzen. Der Finca las Moras Los Intocables Black ist in jeder Hinsicht außergewöhnlich. Schon die Namensgebung lässt vermuten, dass hier etwas Neues, Innovatives auf den Weingenießer zukommt. Der Name ist angelehnt an die FBI Agenten aus den 1930er Jahren, die gegen den Alkoholhandel Al Capones kämpften, bekannt als die „Unbestechlichen“. Ungewöhnlich ist auf jeden Fall die 12-monatige Reifung des Weins in gebrauchten Eichenfässern, in denen vorher berühmte amerikanische Bourbon-Whiskeys lagerten. Das Resultat ist ein unheimlich runder, feingliedriger Wein.Die Trauben, zu 100% Malbec, stammen aus speziell ausgesuchten Weinbergslagen, die vornehmlich sandige, mit Lehm durchsetzte Böden aufweisen. Ein geringer Traubenertrag und die Reifung in den Whiskey Fässern geben dem Los Intocables Black Malbec eine sehr dunkle, fast schwarze Farbe. Der Wein hat einen vollen Körper und sorgt am Gaumen für vielschichtige Eindrücke. Es finden sich sowohl Noten von Blaubeere und Pflaume als auch Aromen von Schokolade, Karamell und Vanille. Der Wein hinterlässt ein weiches, intensives Geschmackserlebnis mit dezenter Süße.

The Matsu El Picaro comes from the wine-growing region of Toro in northwestern Spain. This young wine is a pure varietal Tempranillo, which is known as Tinta de Toro in the Toro region. The grapes are biodynamically cultivated. The wine is an intense purple in the glass. Its bouquet is characterised by persistent aromas of black fruit such as blackberries or bilberries. The mineral notes are wonderfully fresh and complex, surrounded by a light sweetness. Fruit and fullness predominate on the palate as well, resulting from the ripe grapes. Despite its youth, the wine is extremely full-bodied and powerful, due to the ageing in French oak casks and the fact that aggressive filtering and clarification were deliberately avoided.The Matsu El Picaro is vegan and a marvellous delight to enjoy on its own but is also a good accompaniment to moderately hearty dishes.

With this wine, the ‘director’ created ‘Hollywood at its finest’, in which small percentages of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot join in as extras.Coppola puts special emphasis on those little things worthy of a Director’s Cut. A special, careful fermentation, 15 months of ageing in French and American oak casks and a meticulous selection of the grapes in each plot are the ‘special effects’ used by Coppola and his oenologist Cory Beck.The result is a powerful ‘epic’, offering aromas of black currants, plums and black cherries as well as notes of cigar-box on the nose. The wine is opulent and well-defined on the palate, showing lots of red and black fruit and notes of tobacco, leather and vanilla. Its finish is long-lasting and worthy of a ‘thrilling showdown’.All in all, the Francis Ford Coppola Director’s Cut Cabernet Sauvignon is a round and fruity delight, with lots of complexity, making this wine perfect to enjoy on its own.
