The wine has a golden yellow colour. In the nose are Notes of apricots, almonds and cream combine in a profusion of intense aromas - hallmarks of a Backsberg Chardonnay. On the palate is it balanced, long and powerful, has a fresh acidity and fruit notes. Although, perfect as an aperitif, this flavour filled Chardonnay pairs well with seafood, chicken and cream based pasta dishes.

The wine has a dark red colour. In the nose spicy aromas of liquorice and vanilla mingled with blackcurrant fruit. Layers of fruit and oak tannins provide the necessary framework for ripe full fruit flavours of plum and blackberry. Backsberg Merlot has a ruby rot colour. Pungent aromas of raspberry and red plums are tempered by the deft use of French oak maturation. This wine is redolent on the palate with succulent, sweet fruit flavours and finely coated in ripe mouth filling tannins. Smokey and savoury oak characters provide a subtle background to this complex and well balanced Merlot.The wine pairs well with dishes such as duck, lamb, sirloin steak and pastas.
