Salentein Barrel Selection Cabernet Sauvignon

Since its founding in 1995, Bodegas Salentein has spared no effort to become one of the premium wineries in Argentina. The winery succeeded in recruiting star oenologist José Galante, and invested millions in the construction of the wine cellar that was built underground in the shape of a cross and equipped with the latest technology. The Salentein Barrel Selection Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the most outstanding results of these efforts. It is a pure varietal Cabernet Sauvignon that matured for 12 months in French oak casks before it was bottled. It is a striking, intensely dark red – almost black - in the glass, offering the classic Cabernet Sauvignon aromas of currants, pepper and vanilla. It is fleshy on the palate, showing a very elegant structure and fine, soft, well-integrated tannins. The finish is long and voluminous. Those who prefer typical Cabernet Sauvignon wines will be delighted by this Salentein Barrel Selection. It is best served at a temperature of 16-18 °C (60.8-64.4 °F) and goes beautifully with lamb, game and mildly seasoned red meat. It is also an ideal accompaniment to hard cheeses. Salentein Barrel Selection Chardonnay

The Bodegas Salentein estate, located in the Uco Valley near Mendoza in Argentina, is one of the most renowned wineries in South America. Both the building itself with its underground cellar in the shape of a cross and the range of wines offered by the winery are impressive. The Salentein Barrel Selection Chardonnay is a pure varietal Chardonnay that matured for 6 months in American oak casks before it was bottled. It is a straw yellow in the glass. The wonderfully rich bouquet offers aromas of pears, apples, cloves, lime blossoms and tropical fruit such as honeydew melon and limes. On the palate, the wine is soft and ingratiatingly full-bodied, with a lovely melt. The subtle hints of tropical fruit are underpinned by discreet notes of oak. The opulent Chardonnay is well-balanced, showing a lovely acidity.Its long finish is soft, elegant and silky. We recommend enjoying the Salentein Barrel Selection Chardonnay on its own as an aperitif but also to accompany a good meal. Salentein Barrel Selection Malbec

The ‘Barrel Selection’ line from the Salentein winery comprises pure varietal wines whose vines grow in vineyards situated between 1050 and 1700 metres above sea level, irrigated by the clean meltwater from the Andes mountains. The stony soils protect the vines from excessively cool temperatures at night. During the day, the hot climate and lots of sunshine form the ideal basis to create wines that wonderfully reflect the characteristics of the terroir of the Uco Valley. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay vines as well as the pure varietal Malbec are cultivated here.The Salentein Barrel Selection Malbec is an intense, slightly purplish red in colour. The Barrel Selection Merlot is a deep red with blue glints in the glass.
