The rest of the barrels were fourth-fill casks, giving the white wine only subliminal but wonderfully harmonious notes of wood. Glen Carlou Grand Classique

The Glen Carlou Grand Classique matured for 18 months in French barriques, of which about one third were new barrels. The blend, consisting mainly of Cabernet Sauvignon and smaller percentages of Malbec, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc, is redolent of ripe blackberries, dark chocolate and violets and offers nuances of cedar, eucalyptus and dried peaches.
