Kanonkop Black Label Pinotage 2019

Ein „Icon“ Wein ist die Bezeichnung für einen Wein, der über Jahre eine Ausnahmestellung einnimmt. Und genau das hat der Kanonkop Black Label Pinotage geschafft. Dieser südafrikanische Pinotage kann wohl mit Recht behaupten etwas ganz Besonderes zu sein. Die Trauben stammen von 63 Jahre alten Bushvine Reben, so bezeichnet man die Reben, die in Buschform in Südafrika wachsen. Ein ganz natürlicher Rebenwuchs also, beim dem der Winzer nur durch Beschneiden in die Natur eingreift. Die Reben gedeihen auf trockenen Böden, die geprägt sind von zersetztem Granit und verwittertem Gestein. Der Ertrag pro Hektar ist mit 2,8 Tonnen äußerst gering, was für eine hohe Komplexität im Wein sorgt.Die Fermentation erfolgte in offenen Betonbehältern. Die Maische wurde alle 2 Stunden manuell zusammengedrückt und der Saft wurde nach 3,5 Tagen von den Schalen abgezogen. Die Reifung fand für 18 Monate in 100% neuen französischen Barriquefässern statt. Dadurch erreicht der Kanonkop Black Label Pinotage komplexe Aromen von Schwarzkirsche, Pflaume und dunkler Schokolade mit einem Hauch von Zeder in der Nase. Am Gaumen ist er voll mit samtiger Tanninstruktur und Noten von roten und schwarzen Früchten. Das Finish ist langanhaltend und intensiv.

Der Kadette Cape Blend ist ja bereits ein Klassiker und aus unserer Sicht könnte sich der Kadette Cabernet Sauvignon auch dahin entwickeln.Das Bouquet des Kanonkop Kadette Cabernet Sauvignon ist geprägt durch opulente Aromen von dunkler Pflaume, Schwarzkirsche und saftiger Johannisbeere. Am Gaumen zeigt sich der Wein komplex mit einer dezenten Eichenwürze. Fein strukturierte Tannine sorgen für ein stabiles Gerüst und unterstützen die üppige Fruchtnote. Zusammenfassend lässt sich der Kadette Cabernet Sauvignon als saftig, würziger mit einem langen Abgang ausgestatteten Rotwein beschreiben. A lush yet elegant wine, with pleasant integrated ripe tannins.The wine from the Stellenbosch region matured 16 months in French oak barrels, of which 75% were new. Tokara Director's Reserve Red

This wine has a deep dark inky garnet colour with a touch of red brick evident on the rim. This is an intensely complex wine with intense dark berry fruit and crème de cassis notes on the nose. There is an inky heady dark character on the nose reminiscent of dark chocolate, cardamom spice and roasted fennel bulb. Always evident on this wine and a hallmark of every vintage is the hint of Eucalyptus or mint. The palate is full and rich mirroring most of what is evident on the nose. Displaying cocoa, mocha notes ripe berry fruits and a spicy grip. The tannins are broad and textured and leave the wine with a dry finish as well as there being a certain amount of freshness which results in the wine lingering on and on.Food pairing: Veal Osso Bucco or Grilled fillet steak served with red wine sauce, bone marrow, shallots and French fries.
