Salentein Numina Gran Corte Red Blend

The Numina Gran Corte from Argentina’s prestigious Salentein estate is part of the premium range of the winery, and thus simultaneously one of the best Argentine wines. At Salentein, the decades of expertise of oenologist Jose Galante, a perfect terroir, a bold approach to innovation,  and substantial investment in its cellars and technology complement each other to create an extremely fruitful environment from which wines like the Numina emerge.

Only the best Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot grapes are united to compose this unique blend. The Malbec variety, which is predominant in this wine, is the most widely established vine in Argentina. The grapes come from the Uco Valley in Mendoza, located at the foot of the Andes. The vines grow in vineyards at an altitude of up to 1,700 metres and benefit from lots of sun during the day and cooler temperatures at night. They are watered by the pure meltwater from the Andes.

The Salentein Numina Gran Corte is a light, very intense crimson in colour. It is elegant and complex on the nose, offering notes of tobacco, cassis, bilberries, spices, vanilla and caramel. On the palate, this wine from South America shows all its typical characteristics, with lots of aromas of dark berries and soft, sweet and fine tannins. The finish is extremely long.

This wine is the perfect blend of stunning fruit, which does not remain predominant but is compensated by sufficient complexity and depth.

Decanted and enjoyed at a temperature of 16°C (60.8°F), the Salentein Numina Gran Corte is a very special delight. In particular, it is perfect to enjoy on its own, but also goes beautifully with grilled dishes, pasta, beef and game.

Bodega Salentein

Salentein Barrel Selection Cabernet Sauvignon
Since its founding in 1995, Bodegas Salentein has spared no effort to become one of the premium wineries in Argentina. The winery succeeded in recruiting star oenologist José Galante, and invested millions in the construction of the wine cellar that was built underground in the shape of a cross and equipped with the latest technology. The Salentein Barrel Selection Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the most outstanding results of these efforts. It is a pure varietal Cabernet Sauvignon that matured for 12 months in French oak casks before it was bottled. It is a striking, intensely dark red – almost black - in the glass, offering the classic Cabernet Sauvignon aromas of currants, pepper and vanilla. It is fleshy on the palate, showing a very elegant structure and fine, soft, well-integrated tannins. The finish is long and voluminous. Those who prefer typical Cabernet Sauvignon wines will be delighted by this Salentein Barrel Selection. It is best served at a temperature of 16-18 °C (60.8-64.4 °F) and goes beautifully with lamb, game and mildly seasoned red meat. It is also an ideal accompaniment to hard cheeses. We recommend decanting the wine before drinking it so that the Salentein Barrel Selection Cabernet Sauvignon can develop its aromas to the fullest. Wine critics love this Cabernet Sauvignon and assess it as follows: Tim Atkin: 93 out of 100 points; James Suckling: 91 out of 100 points; Mundus Vini: Gold medal; Decanter World Wine Awards: Trophy 2003.
