Im Jahr 2000 schlossen sich die Weinkellereien aus Bennwihr und Westhalten im Elsass zu dem Verbund Bestheim zusammen. Die Wurzeln des Unternehmens gehen jedoch bis ins Jahr 1765 zurück.

Südlich von Colmar, im Zentrum des Vallée Noble liegt das Dorf Westhalten. Hier erzeugt Bestheim seine außergewöhnlichen Schaumweine, die Cremants d'Alsace. Der Standort Bennwihr, nördlich von Colmar und direkt an der elsässischen Weinstraße gelegen, hat sich dagegen auf die Produktion von Stillweinen spezialisiert. Der Genossenschaft angeschlossenen sind 480 Weinbauern, die 1400 ha Rebflächen bewirtschaften. Zusätzlich kauft Bestheim die Produktion von weiteren 400 ha ein. Bei der Arbeit im Weinberg wie im gesamten Unternehmen legt Bestheim großen Wert auf den Umweltschutz.

Die sieben zugelassenen Elsässer Rebsorten sind Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Sylvaner, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Muscat d’Alsace, und Pinot Noir. Bestheim produziert das gesamte Sortiment in verschiedenen Qualitäten. Im Jahr 2008 weitete Bestheim seine Produktion aus und betreibt jetzt zusätzlich zwei Châteaux in Bordeaux (Château De Caillavet und Château Fillon) mit etwa 45 ha Rebfläche.
