Vidal-Fleury Hermitage Rouge AOC

The renowned Hermitage vineyard is located on the northern Rhône in France. Only wines made from grapes from this vineyard may be vinified and marketed under the same designation. The wines from this single vineyard are acclaimed and much sought after around the globe. They are not to be confused with the wines from the Crozes-Hermitage region, which is a much more extensive wine-growing region. The Vidal-Fleury estate is in the fortunate position of owning areas in this renowned vineyard, which are planted with the Shiraz grape variety, the only authorized red variety in this appellation.

This dry red wine is an intense red with black glints in the glass. Its complex bouquet offers notes of grilled meat, vanilla, tobacco and black fruit. Nuances of pepper, so typical of Shiraz wines, and roast aromas are prevalent on the nose as well. The palate is dominated by freshness and complexity, while silky tannins give the Vidal-Fleury Hermitage Rouge its richness and power. The wine tastes of dark plums, blackberries and black currants. Its finish is characterised by great length and notes of pepper, nutmeg and animal aromas.

Try the Hermitage Rouge from the Vidal-Fleury estate with spicy dishes or an exquisite cut of beef or lamb. It is also an excellent accompaniment to game, turkey or coq au vin, and is indispensable in pairings with cheese boards that include bleu d’Auvergne, gorgonzola or a pungent brie, for example.

All in all, the Vidal-Fleury G.S.M. is fresh and supple, with a good length. It is perfect for any occasion and goes beautifully with grilled vegetables, tangy cheeses, pasta or any fine meat dish.
