The Franz Keller Oberbergener Bassgeige Erste Lage Chardonnay comes from one of the most prestigious vineyards in the Kaiserstuhl region of Baden. The vines thrive on mineral-rich loess and volcanic rock soils, which give the wine a remarkable freshness and complexity. Ageing in large wooden barrels and targeted spontaneous fermentation give this Chardonnay a special depth and character - a perfect interplay of elegance and structure.
This white wine presents itself in the glass with a golden color and a complex bouquet of aromas of ripe citrus fruits, yellow apple and fine wood notes reminiscent of roasted almonds. The palate is full-bodied and creamy, accompanied by a lively acidity that gives it freshness. The mineral structure and subtle nuances of vanilla and butterscotch ensure a long, harmonious finish.
After a careful hand harvest and gentle pressing, fermentation is partly spontaneous. The wine is matured for a year in barriques, with part of the wine undergoing malolactic fermentation, which contributes to a harmonious and soft structure.
This Chardonnay is an excellent accompaniment to fried fish, poultry dishes or creamy pasta variations. It is also perfect with mild cheeses or as a soloist. Enjoy the Franz Keller Oberbergener Bassgeige Chardonnay at a temperature of 10-12 degrees and let yourself be seduced by its complexity and elegance.
