The Hensel Höhenflug (high-altitude flight) Chardonnay is noticeably influenced by the ageing in barriques, giving this white wine from the Rhineland-Palatinate a remarkably multi-faceted bouquet. The wine unites notes of toast, caramel and vanilla in its bouquet, complemented by fruity nuances of juicy, ripe honeydew melon and ripe pineapple.

On the palate, this blend from the innovative wine-grower Thomas Hensel is creamy and fruity, with light tannins. The fine acidity offsets the powerful body of this well-balanced Chardonnay with a stimulating freshness. Thomas Hensel ist einer von 20 Winzer aus Bad Dürkheim. Sein 17-Hektar Weinberg befindet sich direkt neben dem lokalen „Flughafen“. Die Familie Hensel besitzt seit über 300 Jahren ihre Lagen in und um Bad Dürkheim. Reben wurden hier seit jeher im großen Rahmen veredelt. So war es nicht verwunderlich, dass Thomas Hensels Händchen für die Pflanze und sein Gespür für trendige Rebsorten ihn zu einem aufstrebenden qualitätsbewussten Winzer machte.

Die Philosophie von Thomas Hensel basiert auf höchsten Qualitätsansprüchen durch Handarbeit im Weinberg und selektive Lese nur gesunder Trauben bei schonendem Ausbau. Hensels Weingut ist wie er selbst jung. Seine Weine jedoch, die haben sich bereits fest etabliert.
