Neiss Burgweg Riesling trocken

Burgweg is a single vineyard owned by the Neiss winery in the Northern Palatinate region. Due to the excellent microclimate, the Riesling grape variety is cultivated here. An old quarry protects this vineyard, which is characterised by the elevation’s exposure to wind and soils with high limestone content. This limestone is able to store the warmth of the day for a long time.

On the nose, the wine is wonderfully fresh and stimulating, with a mild hint of yeast. On the palate, the Neiss Burgweg Riesling offers aromas of juicy raisins and noticeable grape flavours, complemented by notes of sweet honey and a salty minerality. It is full-bodied and powerful, showing a high intensity. The wonderfully balanced acidity leads to a prolonged finish. The wine initially matured for one year in the bottle before being put on the market.

During the international ‘Best of Riesling’ competition in 2019 under the patronage of Rhineland-Palatinate’s Minister of Economic Affairs, Agriculture and Viticulture, the Neiss Burgweg Riesling was awarded the first prize in Category IV - ‘Dry Riesling wines from named individual vineyard sites’.

Enjoy the Neiss Burgweg Riesling with fresh salads. It is also lovely on its own for any occasion. Simply a great Riesling!

Weingut Neiss

Gut Hermannsberg GG Hermannsberg Riesling
This Riesling from the Hermannsberg an der Nahe estate is a fascinating one: the bouquet unites notes of lime and grapefruit with vegetal nuances. The elegant Riesling from the steep slopes of the estate is powerful and silky on the palate, with a long finish complemented by a fine acidity and an amazing opulence. The winery itself states: “The Niederhäuser Hermannsberg slopes are sunny, with a southern exposure shaped by the Ice Age. The bedrock consists of slate covered by a layer of loess.” More than 100 years ago, melaphyre was brought into the vineyard during mining operations. The grapes produce distinctive wines with complex aromas. This exceptional Riesling from the Rhineland-Palatinate requires spicy and herbal food: Try it for instance with grilled aubergine with black curry and sheep’s yoghurt.
