The white burgundy matured entirely in wooden casks. The lower-lying, protected Schlossberg vineyard with its massive limestone soils and their high nutrient content offers ideal conditions for the cultivation of burgundy grape varieties. The combination of warmth and limestone soils forms the basis for the outstanding fullness and power of this white burgundy.

Im Norden der Pfalz, in Kindenheim, liegt das Weingut Neiss. Seit sechs Generationen lebt und arbeitet die Familie Neiss hier und seit 1959 ist das Weingut Neiss in Familienbesitz. Als 1997 Axel Neiss das väterliche Weingut übernahm, galt es, viele Veränderungen anzugehen. Der junge Mann, der eine Ausbildung zum Winzer absolviert hatte und anschließend Önologie in Geisenheim studierte, brachte aus mehreren Auslandsaufenthalten ein umfassendes Fachwissen ins Unternehmen. Gepaart mit innovativen Ideen baute er den Betrieb komplett um und verhalf dem unstrittig vorhandenen großen Lagenpotenzial der besten Kindenheimer Weinberge zu einem enormen Qualitätssprung.

Bei Neiss werden 15 Hektar Rebfläche bewirtschaftet, die sich aufteilen in eine Hälfte Riesling und weiße Burgunderreben und auf der anderen Hälfte rote Trauben, hier vorwiegend Spätburgunder. Das faszinierende Aroma der Weine von Neiss geht auch auf die großen Rebstock-Bestände der alten Weinberge zurück, die zum Teil bis zu 40 Jahre alt sind. Neiss Senior hat sie in den 70er Jahren gepflanzt und sie liefern auch heute hervorragende Qualitäten. Auf den mineralhaltigen Kalksteinböden gedeihen kraftvolle Weine mit feiner Säurestruktur. Der Erfolg gibt Axel Neiss recht: beim Gault Millau wurde das Weingut 2011 mit drei Trauben ausgezeichnet für seine roten und weißen Weinkreationen. Das Weingut Neiss arbeitet zudem umweltbewusst. Es ist Mitglied bei FAIR’N GREEN, dem Siegel für nachhaltigen Weinbau.
