Vesevo Taurasi DOCG

The Vesevo Taurasi is a notably high-quality wine with a tempting bouquet uniting delicate aromas of red fruit and berries with intense notes of liquorice and herbs. It matured for 16 months in oak casks and aged several months longer in the bottle. This red wine from the Campania region is round on the palate, with noticeable but mild tannins and an aromatic, dry finish. Vesevo ist der alte Name des Vulkans Vesuv. Die dramatischen Ausbrüche der Antike sind weltweit bekannt. Der Vesuv bestimmt auch heute den Weinbau. Die Böden vulkanischen Ursprungs geben dem Wein viel Aroma und Frische. Sie stehen für Mineralienreichtum, der für die komplexe Aromenvielfalt der Weine von Vesevo von hoher Bedeutung ist. Hier konzentriert man sich auf die hocharomatischen, autochthonen Rebsorten Aglianico, Greco und Falanghina.

Die italienische Region Kampanien ist in wenigen Jahren in der Gunst der internationalen Weinkritik empor geklettert. Das Weingut Vesevo ist das Ergebnis der Zusammenarbeit zwischen dem italienischen Top-Produzent Farnese Vini und einigen lokalen Partnern. Nach einigen Jahren der Vorbereitung, in denen wertvolle Erfahrungen in Irpinia gewonnen wurden, beschloss man 2000 die engere Zusammenarbeit.

Mario Ercolino, der bereits das benachbarte Weingut seiner Familie (Feudi di San Gregorio) zu einem der zehn höchstprämierten Weingüter Italiens gekeltert hatte, übernahm die Weinproduktion. Geleitet wird Vesevo von Alberto Antonini, einem berühmten toskanischen Önologen. Die Vesevo-Weine sind modern, kommen elegant herüber und sind überaus abwechslungsreich. Sie stehen für spritzige Fruchtigkeit und und intensive Aromatik.

Production area: Selected vineyards of Neviera and Casa Rossa, located in San Marzano district. The soil is mainly “terra rossa”, with a fine texture and generally a calcareous undergound with a few emerging rocks. The well-known redness of these soils is due to the presence of iron oxides.
