Ramos Pinto Late Bottled Vintage

The Ramos Pinto Late Bottled Vintage is a deep, unfathomable red in colour. The port wine has an intense bouquet offering notes of ripe blackberries, red currants, cherries and dark chocolate, complemented by lovely nuances of pepper and menthol. This blend, mainly consisting of Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and smaller percentages of Tinto Cao, is very elegant on the palate. The silky tannins and the great fruitiness unite in a well-balanced interaction. The lbv (late bottled vintage) port wine is full-bodied, showing a great freshness and power and a delicate finish as well.

This port wine, also from the venerable Ramos Pinto estate, was aged in the historic wine cellar in Vila Nova de Gaia, a city located along the banks of the Rio Douro River across from Porto. You’ll want to discover the Ramos Pinto Late Bottled Vintage with game, cheese soufflé, chocolate desserts or desserts with red fruit.

Ramos Pinto

Ramos Pinto Tawny Port 'Quinta do Bom Retiro' 20 Years
This blend, consisting of port wines with an average age of at least 20 years, impressively shows the great complexity that distinguishes port wines in this category. The Ramos Pinto Quinta Do Bom Retiro 20 Years Old unites notes of grapefruit, apricots, almonds, hazel nuts and cocoa beans in its bouquet, complemented by nuances of cinnamon, caramel and coffee as well as aromas of vanilla and old port wine barrels, influenced by notes of wood. It is velvety, dry and initially elegant on the palate. As you drink it, aromas of ripe and dried fruit and nuts, which harmonise perfectly, characterise the palate. This blend, consisting of the Tinta Roriz, Tinto Cao, Touriga Franca und Touriga Nacional grape varieties, comes from the Quinta do Bom Retiro winery, one of the oldest estates in the Douro region. Due to the long ageing in wooden casks, the colour of this port wine changes from red to brick red or yellow. The Ramos Pinto estate itself writes about the colours of a sunset. You’ll enjoy discovering this special Tawny port wine with high-quality chocolate, various cheeses and cream-based desserts. It also goes beautifully with dried fruit, nuts and nut cake. Blending older wines presents a considerably greater challenge and requires far greater expertise than blending younger ones. The venerable Ramos Pinto estate has been a master of this art since 1880 - an experience that wine connoisseurs can taste and smell.

Ramos Pinto Tawny Port 'Quinta da Ervamoira' 10 Years
This Tawny port, consisting of port wines with an average age of at least ten years, is the gateway, so to speak, to the wonderful world of Tawny port wines that have been aged over decades. The wine unites notes of oranges, apricots and plums in its bouquet, along with marvellously harmonising nuances of vanilla and wood aromas resulting from the ageing in older port wine barrels. On the palate, the Ramos Pinto Quinta de Ervamoira 10 Years Old is fresh and fruity, simultaneously offering noticeable notes of wood. The Tawny has a good structure, a full body and a lovely balance between fruit and alcohol. The grapes for this wine come from the Quinta de Ervamoira grape variety. The younger wines give the Tawny its freshness and robustness, whereas this blend’s complexity results from the older wines. The classical Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca and Touriga Franca grape varieties unite to create this fine taste experience. This port wine is an orange-red in colour with green glints. You’ll want to discover it with mussel salad with tomatoes and onions. It also goes beautifully with desserts prepared with dried fruit and nuts or orange marmalade.

Graham’s "The Tawny" Reserve Tawny Port
The Symington family has been producing premium port wines in the Douro valley for five generations now. They put special emphasis on traditional production methods but by no means forget the innovations. The family is still directly involved in the production; the cellar master Charles Symington created this port himself.Graham’s The Tawny is his personal interpretation of a fine port wine aged in wooden casks. The Tawny matured for an average of 7-9 years in oak casks, and was partially blended with considerably older port wines in order to give it more complexity and character. This wine is well-balanced with the abundance of aromas of black and red fruit that wonderfully unite with notes of oranges, orange peel, cinnamon, figs, raisins and plums to create this outstanding taste experience. This amber-coloured port wine is exceptionally aromatic and full-bodied. It is lovely on its own as an aperitif, especially when it’s slightly chilled, or after a good dinner. The Tawny also goes beautifully with almond cake or crème brûlée.
