Ramos Pinto Tawny Port 'Quinta do Bom Retiro' 20 Years

This blend, consisting of port wines with an average age of at least 20 years, impressively shows the great complexity that distinguishes port wines in this category. The Ramos Pinto Quinta Do Bom Retiro 20 Years Old unites notes of grapefruit, apricots, almonds, hazel nuts and cocoa beans in its bouquet, complemented by nuances of cinnamon, caramel and coffee as well as aromas of vanilla and old port wine barrels, influenced by notes of wood. It is velvety, dry and initially elegant on the palate. As you drink it, aromas of ripe and dried fruit and nuts, which harmonise perfectly, characterise the palate.

This blend, consisting of the Tinta Roriz, Tinto Cao, Touriga Franca und Touriga Nacional grape varieties, comes from the Quinta do Bom Retiro winery, one of the oldest estates in the Douro region. Due to the long ageing in wooden casks, the colour of this port wine changes from red to brick red or yellow. The Ramos Pinto estate itself writes about the colours of a sunset.

You’ll enjoy discovering this special Tawny port wine with high-quality chocolate, various cheeses and cream-based desserts. It also goes beautifully with dried fruit, nuts and nut cake. Blending older wines presents a considerably greater challenge and requires far greater expertise than blending younger ones. The venerable Ramos Pinto estate has been a master of this art since 1880 - an experience that wine connoisseurs can taste and smell.

Ramos Pinto

Graham’s Tawny Port 20 Years in Geschenkröhre
