This fine blend from South Africa is redolent of ripe tropical fruit. On the palate, the wine shows a lovely minerality, an impressive length and a great balance as well. The Aaldering Florence Chardonnay Sauvignon Blanc is a blend consisting equally of the Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay grape varieties. The grapes come from the Devon Valley in the Stellenbosch region. Enjoy this young, fresh white wine from South Africa with sushi, sashimi, savoury tomato soup or young goat’s cheese. The Aaldering Florence Chardonnay Sauvignon Blanc is also a lovely taste experience to enjoy simply on its own as an aperitif.

Im Jahre 2004 entschied sich der Geschäftsmann Fons Aaldering (67) zu einer „zweiten Karriere“ und kaufte zusammen mit seiner Frau Marianne ein 24 ha großes Weingut im Devon Valley, im Weinbaugebiet um die Stadt Stellenbosch in Südafrika. Aalderings erklärtes Ziel war es, in kürzester Zeit einer der Top-Weinproduzenten Südafrikas zu werden. So entstand Aaldering Vineyards & Wines.

Mit dem neuen Management kamen große Veränderungen auf das Weingut zu. Der Rebbestand wurde komplett neu gepflanzt, Bewässerungssysteme optimiert und 2012 wurde eine neue, moderne Kellerei in Betrieb genommen.

Im Jahr 2007 kamen die ersten Aaldering-Weine auf den Markt. Inzwischen werden sie weltweit in 26 Länder exportiert und bei mehreren Fluggesellschaften in der First- bzw. Business-Class serviert. Eine besondere Auszeichnung für das kleine, südafrikanische Weingut mit niederländischen Wurzeln. Darüber hinaus sind Aaldering-Weine vielfach preisgekrönt und wurden von Robert Parker mit über 90 Punkten sowie mit 4 Sternen von John Platter ausgezeichnet.

Aaldering stellt seinen Wein ausschließlich aus Trauben des eigenen Weinguts her. Als Rebsorten wählte man neben der Pinotage, dem Wein Südafrikas, verschiedene ursprünglich französische Sorten, wie Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Shiraz, Cabernet und Merlot.

Winemaker und General Manager Dustin Osborne hat die Jahresproduktion auf 120.000 Flaschen angesetzt. Das „Flaggschiff“ des Weinguts ist der Pinotage, der in unterschiedlichen Versionen ausgebaut wird, darunter ist ein Pinotage blanc. Bei den „Florence“ Weinen, benannt nach der Enkeltochter der Aalderings, handelt es sich um jugendliche Cuvées für jeden Anlass.

In den Aaldering-Weingärten setzt man neueste Erkenntnisse über nachhaltigen Weinbau um. So wird zum Beispiel bei der Bewirtschaftung viel Wert auf den Erhalt der Biodiversität gelegt. Zwischen den Reben darf eine Vielzahl von Pflanzen wachsen. Mittlerweile wurde Aaldering Vineyards & Wines sogar von Enviro Wines (einer ökologischen Zertifizierungsorganisation) bescheinigt, zur recht kleinen Gruppe der optimal produzierenden Weinbaubetriebe in Südafrika zu gehören.

Der frische Weißwein aus den Abruzzen ist eine echte Entdeckung.Als Assemblage aus Chardonnay und Sauvignon Blanc macht der Fosso Corno Cima Bianca eine sehr überzeugende Figur. Denn beide Trauben zeichnen sich durch eine besondere Frische aus, die durch einen überlegten Ausbau zu einer sehr strukturierten und genussvollen Cuvée werden.Das leuchtende Gelb mit grünen Reflexen überzeugt das Auge. An der Nase entfalten sich grüner Apfel, Aprikose und Grapefruit. Diese Noten deuten auf die feine Säure des Weines am Gaumen hin, die von aromatischer Tiefe begleitet wird. Damit erhält dieser italienische Wein ein sehr spannendes, harmonisches Gesamtbild, das im Abgang sanft nachklingt, ohne zu lang auf der Zunge zu verweilen.Seine Leichtigkeit macht den Cima Bianca zu einem hervorragenden Aperitif, besonders an heißen Tagen. The Aaldering Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot has an initially intense bouquet offering notes of ripe blackberries and cassis. The wonderfully fruity bouquet is harmoniously complemented and rounded off by fine nuances of eucalyptus, cedar and cigar box. This blend, consisting mainly of Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% of Merlot, is elegant and powerful on the palate, with velvety, well-structured tannins.This is a high-quality wine from the Devon Valley in the Stellenbosch region. The grape varieties were aged separately and matured for 25 months in French barriques, of which 35% were new barrels.
