The Te^te de Cuve'e Pinot Noir is an outstanding red wine from South Africa from the famous Bouchard Finlayson winery. Situated in the beautiful Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, not far from Walker Bay in the South Atlantic, Bouchard Finlayson has quickly gained great international recognition, particularly thanks to its outstanding Pinot Noir creations.
The Bouchard Finlayson Te^te de Cuve'e Pinot Noir from the 2021 vintage has a multi-faceted aroma of fresh cranberries and juicy plums, wonderfully intertwined with a piquant, exotic spiciness. In John Platter's Wine Guide, this South African red wine achieves the rarely awarded 5 stars (96 points). Critic Tim James writes of a bouquet that smells of ripe red plums and cherries, as well as fragrant flowers and hints of Earl Grey.
Anthony Mueller awards 90 points in Robert Parker's Wine Advocate. Mueller recognizes a brilliant and seductive bouquet "with aromas of wild strawberry, red apple, potpourri, dusty cherry skin with dug up earth, truffle and forest floor".
On the palate, the pure Pinot Noir from the Western Cape province is dry with a medium body. The polished and at the same time pleasantly defining tannins are masterfully integrated. "Strong, rounded tannins, supported by distinctive but balanced oak (50% new), earthy minerality on the finish," says James.
The Bouchard Finlayson Te^te de Cuve'e Pinot Noir has a fine structure and noticeable acidity, plus an earthy saltiness. "Finishing with a juicy taste of dusty red plum skin and cherries, the wine is delicious and will remain a good food companion well beyond its tenth birthday," writes Mueller. He also recognizes aromas of dried cranberries and orange peel with elements of bitter black tea on the palate.
Enjoy the Bouchard Finlayson Te^te de Cuve'e Pinot Noir with a risotto with prawns or mussels. This red wine from South Africa is also a perfect choice with crispy roast duck.
