Vor allem mit seinem Chenin Blanc hat sich das südafrikanische Weingut Brookdale einen Namen gemacht. Winemakerin Kiara Scott, noch keine 30 Jahre alt, hat es in der jüngeren Vergangenheit meisterhaft geschafft, dass die Brookdale-Weine Jahr für Jahr an Qualität zulegen. Der Brookdale Mason Road Chenin Blanc ist eine perfekte Wahl, um in die Welt der Kreationen dieses aufstrebenden Weingutes aus der Paarl-Region einzusteigen.

Dieser Weißwein aus Südafrika ist im Bouquet faszinierend vielschichtig fruchtig. Zu Beginn mit prägenden Noten von Geißblatt und Birne, wird es schnell animierend abwechslungsreich. Genießerinnen und Genießer des Brookdale Mason Road Chenin Blanc können sich auf Noten von Ananas, Mango und Nuancen von Limette freuen. Dazu Anklänge von Feuerstein.

Am Gaumen ist der Chenin Blanc trocken und hocharomatisch, mit Aromen von Honigwaben, Birnen und wieder der Fülle an tropischen Früchten. Dazu kommen eine anregende Säure und eine leicht salzige Mineralität. Der Weißwein klingt noch bemerkenswert lange nach.

Die feine Komplexität des Weins rührt von seiner besonderen Machart her. So stammt der Großteil der Trauben für diesen reinsortigen Chenin von jungen Lagen, die 2016 angelegt wurden. Dazu kommt ein kleinerer Anteil Trauben von Lagen, deren Rebstöcke vor mehr als 30 Jahren angelegt wurden. Zudem entschied sich Kiara Scott dazu, eine kleinen Anteil (20 Prozent) Chenin Blanc in die Komposition einzubringen, der im alten französischen Eichenholz gereift ist.
