This Shiraz from the Stellenbosch region unites notes of lavender, dark, red fruit and mulberries in its bouquet, finely rounded off by nuances of white pepper. The ruby-red wine is supple on the palate, with an impressively aromatic finish. This low-yield vintage is characterised by small, concentrated and very healthy grapes. The pure varietal Shiraz matured for 12 months in French oak casks. The Delaire Graff Shiraz is a fine taste experience and an outstanding example of the South African art of viticulture, especially when Shiraz wines are concerned.

Of all the plantet grapes in South Africa, the shiraz, or syrah, as the French call him, is without a doubt one of the most successful. It has everything to do with the ideal climate of the Cape for this grape. Warm but not too hot, with a good cooling in the afternoon, which seems a bit like the Rhone region, where this wonderful grape originated. By a short fermentation process at low temperature it gets a strong character, with delicious fruit. Two thirds of the wine then matures about six to eight months in a mix of French and American oak, which makes it well rounded and gets it some extra complexity. That is why wood and fruit remain so perfectly balanced.

This Sauvignon Blanc is a blend consisting of grapes that come from the wine-growing regions of Durbanville, Stellenbosch, Darling and Franschhoek. This white wine from South Africa has a wonderfully enticing bouquet offering notes of tropical fruit, underpinned by nuances of black currants and gooseberries. On the palate, the Declaire Graff Coastal Cuvee Sauvignon Blanc is balanced and beautifully multi-layered. This cuvée also includes small percentages of Semillon which was aged in French wooden casks, giving this assemblage its complexity. The Sauvignon Blanc, wonderfully uniting all the advantages of its cultivation areas, has a fresh, crisp acidity and a long finish. South Africa’s wine expert John Platter awards this white wine 4.5 out of 5 possible stars.

This showcase blend from South Africa is impressively concentrated on the palate, underpinned by skilfully integrated tannins.
