Glen Carlou Syrah

This Shiraz from Paarl in South Africa unites notes of red berries (raspberries, cherries), plums and Middle Eastern spices as well as nuances of cinnamon, cloves and white pepper in its bouquet. The Glen Carlou Syrah is balanced on the palate, with pleasantly structured tannins. The long finish is characterised by noticeable aromas of black currants.

This Shiraz matured for 15 months in French barriques, of which 40% were new and 60% were second-fill barrels.

You’ll want to discover this red wine with saddle of venison, duck breast or rack of lamb. It is also lovely on its own.

Product recommendation

Glen Carlou Chardonnay
This Chardonnay from South Africa has a wonderfully fruity bouquet offering aromas of apples, gooseberries and ripe pears, along with notes of lemon cream and pineapple and nuances of vanilla and butterscotch as well. The Glen Carlou Chardonnay is medium-bodied, fresh and stimulating on the palate, with a balanced acidity, a lovely length and an impressive finesse. The Chardonnay matured for 10 months in special Chardonnay casks, of which 30% each were new, second- and third-fill barrels. The rest of the barrels were fourth-fill casks, giving the white wine only subliminal but wonderfully harmonious notes of wood. The wine’s fruitiness remains predominant. This white wine from Paarl, South Africa, is a good accompaniment to fried scampi or mussels in white wine.
