The Oldenburg Vineyards Rhodium is a noble Bordeaux cuvee from the esteemed South African wine region of Stellenbosch. Named after the rare precious metal, this wine stands for precision, elegance and exceptional quality. Oldenburg Vineyards uses the unique terroir around the striking Rondekop hill to produce wines of impressive depth and finesse.

The cuvee is based on Merlot and Cabernet Franc, supplemented by a 10% share of Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes come from high-altitude, well-ventilated vineyards, which allow for slow ripening and thus ensure concentrated aromas. After careful manual harvesting, temperature-controlled fermentation takes place to preserve the fine fruit. The wine then matures for 18 months in French oak barrels, a large proportion of which are new. This gives it an impressive structure and elegant spiciness.

In the glass, the Oldenburg Vineyards Rhodium is a bright ruby red with purple reflections. The nose reveals a multi-layered bouquet of fruity, herbal and floral notes, accompanied by hints of cranberry, sage and thyme as well as lavender, fresh rose petals and a core of black cherries. On the palate, it is harmonious with silky tannins, a softness and elegance that is breathtakingly lively. The finish is long and elegant with hints of dark chocolate and a subtle smokiness.

The Oldenburg Vineyards Rhodium goes perfectly with fine meat dishes such as fillet of beef, saddle of lamb or game. Matured hard cheeses and truffle dishes are also ideal accompaniments for this complex and multi-layered wine.

Oldenburg Vineyards ist ein erstklassiges Boutique-Weingut, das kleine Mengen Rot- und Weißwein produziert. Das Weingut wurde 1960 gegründet und die Weinberge liegen in den Bergen außerhalb von Stellenbosch, dem sogenannten Banghoek Tal. Sie werden kompromisslos bewirtschaftet, um das Potenzial des großartigen Terroirs zu maximieren.

Vor der Kulisse atemberaubender Naturschönheit inspiriert die einzigartige Lage zu einem nachhaltigen Ansatz in den Weinbergen und bringt letztendlich spannende Weine hervor. Das Weingut verfügt über 55 Hektar eigene Fläche. Seit 2018 zeichnet sich Nic van Aarde als Winemaker verantwortlich.

Der Wein reifte 18 Monate lang in 300-Liter-Fässern aus französischer Eiche, davon 14 % neues Eichenholz, was ihm zusätzliche Tiefe und Komplexität verleiht. After selective hand-picking, fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks to preserve the freshness of the fruit. The wine then matures for at least 18 months in French oak barrels, with a third of new barrels being used to give it additional structure, fine spice and elegance.In the glass, the Rondekop Per Se Cabernet Sauvignon presents itself in a deep ruby red with violet reflections.
