Perdeberg The Dryland Collection Joseph Legacy

This exceptional blend of Shiraz, Mourvedre, Grenache Noir and Cinsault maturated in oak barrels. Perdeberg The Dryland Collection Joseph’s Legacy is a tribute to Perdeberg’s legendary winemaker, Joseph Huskisson, who was a visionary in his time at Perdeberg from 1956 to 1994. Only the best barrels from the 2019 vintage were selected for this magnificent blend.

Black pepper, cedar, cherry, red berries and vanilla notes are all prominent on the nose. The palate is structured and bold with layered tones of cloves, spice, coriander and chocolate icing. Over time complexity will increase and aromas are expected to become spicier, leathery with hints of cigar smoke.

Enjoy this special wine with dishes such as flame grilled rump steak, spicy venison or beef casserole.

Das südafrikanische Weingut Perdeberg liegt in der Region Agter-Paarl, zwischen Malmesbury und Durbanville in der Provinz Westkap. Perdeberg hat eine längere Geschichte: Den ersten Jahrgang produzierte das Weingut 1942.

Perdebergs Anbauflächen erstrecken sich über mehr als 2000 Hektar. Mehr als 70% dieser Flächen werden nicht bewässert. Zudem setzt das Weingut zu großen Teilen auf „bush vines“, also Weinreben ohne Drahtrahmenerziehung. Besonders in Südafrika handelt es sich hier oft um sehr alte Reben. Kurzum: Dieses Weingut zeigt auf beeindruckende Weise die natürliche Qualität des südafrikanischen Weinbaus. „Perdeberg – The Dry Land Collection“ ist das Paradebeispiel dafür.

2012 entschied sich das Team um Kellermeister Albertus Louw, diese Linie zu produzieren. Sie ist also noch sehr jung, hat aber schon zahlreiche internationale Auszeichnungen erhalten.

Another great creation from Perdeberg: The Dryland Collection Pinotage is a real taste experience. Bush vine Pinotage vineyards flourish under Dry Land conditions. The dark colour, explicit aromatics and juicy structure of this wine are testament to this traditional way of grape farming. On the nose this wine shows a distinctive spiciness with undertones of fresh cherries, prunes and strawberry cordial. The palate boasts ample fruit and charisma, with a luscious tannin structure which will evolve in taste and texture over the coming years. Enjoy this wine among friends or pair with dishes such as tuna steak, lamb tika massala or glazed pork ribs.

Zenato Valpolicella Superiore
The Zenato Valpolicella is somewhat similar to the Bardolino; however, the Valpolicella is a little more powerful and shows a fuller body – it is simply of better quality. The wine consists of Corvina Veronese (responsible for the bouquet and the acidity), Rondinella (lots of sugar) and Sangiovese (gives the wine its elegance).This is a wine that can be enjoyed young, but another few years of ageing in the wine cellar will further enhance its qualities. For years, Valpolicella has been one of Italy’s most famous wines. Unfortunately, one can find many Valpolicella wines of poor quality on the market but fortunately, we don’t have to worry about this as far as Zenato wines are concerned, as Zenato produces only high-quality wines.

Perdeberg The Dryland Collection Chenin Blanc Barrel Fermented
Perdeberg The Dryland Collection Barrel Chenin is made in a rich and ripe wooded style. This Chenin Blanc was fermented and matured in small French oak barrels. Together with the age old traditions of Dry Land viticulture, it resulted in a very aromatic and richly textured wine, with characteristics typical to Chenin Blanc grown under these conditions.Citrus, lemon zest, dried pear, peach and apricot flavors are only some of the aromas evident in the aromatics of this wine. The palate boasts hints of honey comb, pineapple and vanilla, while the finish is crisp with a well-balanced acidity. Enjoy this wine with dishes such as Cape Malay bobotie, chicken curry or fragrant cheeses.
