Springfield Estate liegt in Südafrika in der Weinbauregion Robertson im Zentrum der südafrikanischen Halbwüste Klein-Karoo. Das Klima der Region ist heiß und trocken, bietet aber bei ausreichender Bewässerung aufgrund äußerst fruchtbarer Böden hervorragende Bedingungen, um Weine von beeindruckender, zarter Mineralität zu kreieren. Besonders für brillante Weißweine sind die Weingüter der Region Robertson bekannt.

Springfield Estate ist im Besitz der Familie Bruwer, die in der neunten Generation Nachkommen französischer Hugenotten sind. Den Durchbruch zur Spitze des südafrikanischen Weinbaus erreichten aber erst die heutigen Weinmacher um Abrie Bruwer.

Die Bruwers verwenden ausschließlich Trauben von eigenen Weinbergen, das Beste wird mit dem Namen Springfield ausgezeichnet. Springfield Estate steht für ein überragendes Qualitätsniveau, aber auch ein moderates Preisgefüge. Es ist eines der besten Weingüter Südafrikas für Weißweine, produziert aber auch hervorragende Rotweine.

The pure varietal Cabernet Sauvignon from the Alto Wine Estate located in the Stellenbosch region is a lovely example of South African viticulture. Winemaker Bertho van der Westhuizen selects only the best grapes to produce this wine. The vines grow on soils consisting of decomposed granite, while the subsoils are clay, giving the Alto Cabernet Sauvignon its finesse and intense character.The wine is a deep dark red in colour, indicating its power. The Alto Cabernet Sauvignon offers aromas of dark fruit, cedar wood and spices in its spicy bouquet, along with mineral notes and nuances of dark chocolate. It is rich and concentrated on the palate, with a balanced structure.
