Tokara Director's Reserve Red

This wine has a deep dark inky garnet colour with a touch of red brick evident on the rim. This is an intensely complex wine with intense dark berry fruit and crème de cassis notes on the nose. There is an inky heady dark character on the nose reminiscent of dark chocolate, cardamom spice and roasted fennel bulb. Always evident on this wine and a hallmark of every vintage is the hint of Eucalyptus or mint. The palate is full and rich mirroring most of what is evident on the nose. Displaying cocoa, mocha notes ripe berry fruits and a spicy grip. The tannins are broad and textured and leave the wine with a dry finish as well as there being a certain amount of freshness which results in the wine lingering on and on.

Food pairing: Veal Osso Bucco or Grilled fillet steak served with red wine sauce, bone marrow, shallots and French fries.

Das Weingut Tokara umfasst insgesamt drei Weinbaugebiete. In Stellenbosch befindet sich das erste Gut von Tokara. Hier begann die Erfolgsgeschichte des Weingutes auf den südlichen Hängen des Simonsberg. Das Gut liegt am Helshoogte Pass, nur ca. fünf Kilometer von der Stadt Stellenbosch entfernt, dem Zentrum des südafrikanischen Weinanbaus. Das Weingut bietet einen spektakulären Blick über die False Bay, Stellenbosch und den ganzen Weg bis zum Tafelberg.

Im Distrikt Elgin liegt das zweite Anbaugebiet: Highlands. Auf dem Kogelberg Mountain, mehr als 400 Meter über dem Meeresspiegel, reift vor allem Sauvignon Blanc zu einer hervorragenden Qualität heran.

Im Hemel-en-Arde-Tal, nahe dem malerischen Küstenort Hermanus schließlich befindet sich Tokaras Anbaugebiet Siberia, gelegen auf den kühlen südlichen Hängen des Babylonstoren Mountain, knapp 300 Meter über dem Meeresspiegel.

Alle drei Anbaugebiete sind geprägt von einem kühlen Klima sowie sandigen Lehmböden und tiefroten, fruchtbaren Böden. Diese außergewöhnlichen Bedingungen geben Tokara die Möglichkeit, unverwechselbare, charaktervolle Weine zu kreieren.

Geleitet wird Tokara von Richard Carstens, dem die Winemaker Meilen Mossop sowie Aidan Morton zur Seite stehen.

Thelema Rabelais

Delheim Grand Reserve 2015
In contrast to the 2014 vintage, the Delheim Grand Reserve 2015 consists of significantly higher percentages of Merlot. The Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, which are predominant in this wine, come from three different vineyards located in the Stellenbosch region. The Merlot and Cabernet Franc grapes grow on vineyards located on the slopes of the Klapmutskop Mountains. The vines for this wonderful cuvée are at least 10 years old, and some of them are more than 20 years old, ensuring exceptional depth and structure of the wine. To ensure optimal pre-selection, all the grapes were picked by hand.During the fermentation, the grapes were stirred three times a day to achieve maximal aroma extraction from the grapes. The whole process was carried out at controlled temperatures. After the three grape varieties were aged for 16 months, the maturity of the Merlot was decisive for the blending and therefore for the mixture of the final wine. Finally, the Delheim Grand Reserve matured for another 4 months in used 300-litre oak casks.On the nose, the brilliant, dark ruby-red wine pampers your senses with aromas of mint, cassis and truffle, rounded off by fine nuances of red berries. On the palate, the wine shows wonderful fruity notes which are preserved despite the wine’s immense fullness and power. The Delheim Grand Reserve 2015 goes beautifully with any luxurious meal and is also an ideal accompaniment to tangy cheeses.

Der Rust en Vrede Estate ist ein Cuvee aus den Rebsorten Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah und Merlot. Der dominierende Cabernet gibt dem Wein herrliche Noten von schwarzer Johannisbeere und weiteren dunklen Früchten wie Heidelbeere. Der Syrah sorgt für eine schöne Würze mit erdigen Aromen. Der Merlot steuert sanfte florale Aromen von Veilchen und Jasmin bei. Eine Kombination, die am Gaumen wirklich Spaß macht. Die Farbe ist purpurrot und in der Nase finden sich Noten von frischem Leder, Tabak, Maulbeeren und Waldboden wieder. Der langanhaltende Abgang wird durch samtig weiche Tannine bestimmt.Der Rust en Vrede Estate reifte 18 Monate in 100% französischen Fässern, die mittelstark getoastet waren. Dadurch erhält der Wein einen schönen runden Körper und eine feste Struktur. Die moderate Säure balanciert die Trockenheit wunderbar aus.Ergänzend zu Wildgerichten aller Art ein wirklicher Genuss.

Der Boekenhoutskloof Chocolate Block ist ein unverwechselbares Geschmackserlebnis aus Südafrika.
