Die Weinfarm Vergelegen (Ferngelegen) wurde 1700 durch Adrian van der Stell gegründet. Er war der Sohn von Simon van der Stell, dem ersten Gouverneur von Kapstadt, welcher Stellenbosch bzw. Simonsberg seinen Namen verlieh.

Seit Mitte der 80er Jahre zeichnet ein Investor aus dem Minengeschäft, für die unter Kulturschutz stehende Farm verantwortlich und ließ sie zu ihrer einstigen Pracht aufblühen.

14 months the Yarden Merlot was aged in French oak barrels. The nose is wonderfully complex, the wine offers aromas of dark fruits, herbs de Provence, bay leaves and green olives. Then there are the subtle hints of oak.On the palate the 100% Merlot is full-bodied. The red wine is powerful and dense, yet remarkably elegant and balanced. The silver medal at the international competition Mundus Vini 2014 is only one of many hints for the quality of this wine.Enjoy the Yarden Merlot to lamb or roast beef.

The Merlot DOC Riserva Siebeneich offers a complex bouquet, which combines notes of dried plums, cranberries, mint and eucalyptus, complemented by hints of black pepper and subtle oak notes. On the palate the wine shows a stable tannin structure. The fruitiness of the wine is impressive as well as the long lasting finish. 12 months the wine matured partly in large oak barrels (70%) and partly in barriques (30%). For the maturation in the barriques, one third new wood barrels was used.Enjoy this italien redwine to fish with red meat, pasta with tomato sauce or poultry.

The Marzadro Grappa Stravecchia Le Diciotto Lune is produced by distilling five Trentino pomaces such as Marzemino, Teroldego, Merlot, Moscato and Chardonnay. As a special feature, this exceptional grappa matured for 18 months in small barrels made of cherry wood, ash, oak and robinia, giving this grappa its typical intense and ethereal fragrance with fine vanilla aromas, deep colour and full flavour. The Marzadro Grappa Stravecchia Le Diciotto Lune is round and silky on the palate. The name “Le Diciotto Lune” (18 moons) means that the grappa aged for 18 months in wooden casks. It has repeatedly received prestigious awards bestowed by international critics. Here, wood and grappa develop in perfect harmony.
