The AN has earned the reputation of being one of Spain’s showcase wines within an impressively short period of time. The winemaker Anima Negra deliberately decided to cultivate grape varieties indigenous to Mallorca. The grapes for its outstanding wines come from vines that are more than 80 years old. This blend, consisting mainly of Callet and a smaller percentage of Manto Negro, offers notes of dark fruit (cassis, black cherries), tobacco, mocha, black pepper and vanilla in its fascinatingly multi-faceted bouquet, along with roast aromas. On the palate, the red wine is full-bodied and velvety, showing a charming structure, a great density, wonderfully integrated tannins and a long, fresh finish.
The Anima Negra AN matured for 17 to 19 months in new French oak casks. This impressive red wine goes beautifully with strongly seasoned meat dishes and hearty cheeses. Anima Negra kept its promise and developed the potential of the indigenous Majorcan grape varieties, especially of the Callet red wine variety, to the fullest.
