Robert Mondavi Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon

This cult wine from the Napa Valley is a remarkable taste-experience, although growing conditions were extremely difficult. This is a fabulous showing in a very challenging year

The Robert Mondavi Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon has a great depth, yet is remarkably accessible. 93% of the grapes for this blend come from the legendary vineyard To Kalon. The blend of predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon as well as small amounts of Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Merlot and Malbec has a deep dark color. On the nose the wine is wonderfully diverse. It offers intense aromas of dark fruit, sage, bay leaf and fine nuances of black pepper.

On the palate, savory and with a clear, harmonious structure. The freshness, density, complexity and the persistent finish make the wine an extraordinary creation.

The new wine was drained and gently pressed into 92% new French-oak barrels for malolactic fermentation, assuring seamless integration of fruit and oak. The final blend was assembled through repeated tasting trials over the 20 months of barrel aging.

Le Serre Nuove
Le Serre Nuove is a remarkable blend of  Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The grapes are very concentrated, with a perfect balance between ripe tannins, fresh acidity and intense, ripe flavors.Wine lovers can expect a concentrated, fine and soft red wine of great aromatic intensity. Scents of ripe red fruits are accompanied by tobacco leaf notes and spices. On the palate impress the great maturity and quality of soft, dense and smooth tannins. Each grape variety and each vineyard parcel was vinified separately. The wine was aged around 15 months in barriques. After the first 12 months, the wines were merged to mature for a further 3 months in barriques. A six-month aging in the bottle stood at the end of the process. Le Serre Nuove offers a remarkable aging potential, but is also already a pleasure. The winery "Tenuta dell'Ornellaia" was founded in 1981 by Marchese Lodovico Antinori – with the support of the legendary winemaker André Tchelistcheff. In the wine-world Tenuta dell'Ornellaia – situated in the Province of Livorno in Tuscany – fastly achieved an outstanding, almost legendary reputation, thanks to its exquisite creations.

Mont du Toit Le Sommet
The renowned German winemaker Bernd Philippi created the Mont du Toit Le Sommet. This blend from South Africa definitely ranks among the South African top red wines. The bouquet of this outstanding blend unites notes of black currants, sour cherries and milk chocolate, along with fine nuances of mint and nutmeg. Initially, the wine once again offers aromas of sour cherries and plums on the palate. This fruitiness is complemented by a velvety elegance and depth, while the noticeable tannins are well-integrated. The individual grape varieties were aged separately and matured for 12 months in oak casks, after which the blend was aged for a further 11 months. The selection of the grapes for this fascinating ruby-red wine was carried out with the utmost care. This assemblage is a good accompaniment to beef or lamb.

Quintessa Napa Valley 2018

Stag's Leap Artemis Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

During the 18 months of barrel aging in new French oak barrels, the wine is racked 3 times to get rid of lees, and allow some oxygen to interfere in the evolution and maturation of this wine. When the final blend is made, if the wine is totally clear, and has no microbiological pressure, there is no need for filtration or fining….so the wine goes unfiltered to the bottling process.Decant for at least an hour for better enjoyment, allowing the wine to open up.
