The Wente Riva Ranch Chardonnay from California matures for 10 months in American and French oak barrels. This wonderfully complements the intense fruit aromas of this white wine. The bouquet combines notes of tropical fruits such as pineapple, white nectarine and sweet baking spices. On the palate, this wine from "California's First Family of Chardonnay" is full, luscious and somewhat creamy, with a beautiful texture, balance and a long finish.

The Wente family has been dedicated to viticulture for 5 generations, and this blend of Chardonnay and a very small amount of Gewürztraminer shows why the winery is one of the big names in Californian viticulture.

Wente Vineyards wurde im Jahr 1883 gegründet und ist das älteste ununterbrochen bewirtschaftete Familienweingut Kaliforniens. Das 800 ha große Weingut wird heute in vierter und fünfter Generation von den Geschwistern Carolyn, Philip und Eric, sowie deren Kindern Christine und Karl Wente geführt.

Zum Weingut gehören auch ein Top-Restaurant, ein Golfplatz sowie das historische Weingut Murieta's Well. Im Park des Weingutes finden regelmäßig Konzerte namhafter Künstler wie UB 40 statt.

Nach erfolgreich abgeschlossenem Studium ist Karl Wente seit 2002 als Winemaker verantwortlich.

Der Neil Ellis Whitehall Chardonnay ist ein Wein, der das Terroir und die Philosophie von Neil Ellis gleichzeitig widerspiegelt. Die Trauben für diesen Chardonnay stammen aus der Region Elgin. Eine Region die für ihre Kühle am Kap bekannt ist und günstigste Bedingungen in Bezug auf Klima und Boden aufweist. Andererseits zeichnet sich der Whitehall Chardonnay durch große Reinheit aus, was durch die akribische Arbeit im Weinberg ermöglicht wird. Die Trauben wurden zu 100% in Barriquefässern fermentiert. Dabei kamen zu 25% neue Fässer zum Einsatz und der Rest wurde in Fässern zweiter und dritter Füllung verarbeitet. Die Reifung erfolgte für 9 Monate in französischen Eichenfässern.Die Farbe des Neil Ellis Whitehall Chardonnay ist strohähnlich mit leichten grünlichen Reflexen. In der Nase finden sich Chardonnay typische Aromen von Nektarinen, Zitrone und verschiedene florale Noten. Am Gaumen prägt eine wunderbare Harmonie und Struktur den Geschmack. Die ausgewogene Säure gleicht den Holzeinsatz sehr schön aus. Der Wein ist komplex und von reicher Textur.Der Neil Ellis Whitehall Chardonnay ist ein hervorragender Essensbegleiter. Speziell Lachs und andere Meeresfrüchte ergänzt dieser Chardonnay ganz wunderbar.
